Time Addressable Media Storage (TAMS) is a modern approach to storing and providing access to time-based media content. Instead of treating audio and video exclusively as traditional files, TAMS enables applications to access media based on its position in time.
Especially in modern broadcast and IP-based production environments, this opens up new possibilities. Applications can access specific time ranges within continuous media streams without having to transfer or process complete files. This simplifies the integration of different systems and enables more flexible and efficient workflows.
At 2wcom Systems, we have already integrated TAMS functionality into our solutions. It is available both in our hardware devices and within our MoIN software platform, combining proven broadcast technology with modern software- and API-based media architectures.
For our customers, this means greater flexibility in processing, accessing, and delivering media content — and another important step towards making existing broadcast infrastructures ready for future IP- and cloud-based workflows.
