PHP Security Updates

2wcom provides new firmware updates to address two critical PHP vulnerabilities, helping customers maintain secure and reliable broadcast operations.

Security is an essential part of modern broadcast infrastructure. With broadcast systems increasingly relying on IP-based connectivity and web-based management interfaces, keeping devices protected against newly discovered vulnerabilities remains a priority.

On October 21, 2026, two critical security vulnerabilities in PHP were disclosed: CVE-2026-109618 and CVE-2026-109619, both rated 9.2 on the CVSS severity scale. These vulnerabilities could potentially allow unauthorized access and the execution of malicious code on affected systems.

In response, 2wcom is providing new firmware versions as of October 22, 2026, addressing both vulnerabilities in the affected products.

Keeping Your Devices Up to Date

We recommend that customers using affected devices install the available firmware updates as soon as possible to address these security vulnerabilities.

The updates are available through our Download Center or directly via the device’s web interface using Check4Updates, allowing customers to update their systems conveniently.

For customers requiring a fix for a specific firmware version, backports can be requested through our Support Portal.

Older 2wcom Platforms

Products based on our older platform architecture are not affected by these vulnerabilities. This includes, for example, the A30, DSR0x, FlexDSR0x, C02, FM02, FlexXtract+, and FlexNsert+.

By providing timely firmware updates, 2wcom continues to support the security and reliability of broadcast infrastructure.

New Tuner Options for Broadcast Monitoring and Distribution

In modern broadcast environments, flexibility and reliable signal access are essential. Whether for monitoring, backup or distribution, broadcasters need different ways to receive and integrate signals into their existing workflows.

To support these requirements, 2wcom is introducing two new tuner options: a Multiband FM / HD Radio / DAB+ Tuner and a dedicated FM-MPX Tuner. Both expand the possibilities for integrating RF signals directly into broadcast systems, reducing the need for additional external equipment.

One Platform, Multiple Broadcast Standards

Different broadcast applications require different signal sources. With the new Multiband FM / HD Radio / DAB+ Tuner, broadcasters gain additional flexibility when working with multiple transmission standards.

One important application is off-air monitoring, where the received broadcast signal is used to check what is actually being transmitted.

The tuner also supports use cases such as FM, HD Radio and DAB+ confidence monitoring, helping broadcasters verify their broadcast signals and maintain an overview of their transmission workflows.

By bringing different RF reception options into existing hardware, broadcasters can integrate off-air signals without necessarily relying on separate receivers for each broadcast standard.

Direct Access to the FM-MPX Signal

Alongside the multiband option, 2wcom is introducing a dedicated FM-MPX Tuner, designed to provide direct access to the transmitted FM multiplex signal.

This opens up possibilities for applications where the actual off-air MPX signal is relevant, including monitoring, FM rebroadcasting and backup workflows.

Another use case is the comparison between the original studio or Studio-to-Transmitter Link (STL) signal and the signal actually transmitted over the air. This provides broadcasters with an additional perspective on their transmission chain, allowing them to compare the source signal with what is ultimately broadcast.

Supporting Monitoring, Backup and Distribution

The new tuner options offer additional possibilities across different broadcast applications, particularly in MPX, IP and monitoring workflows.

For monitoring applications, receiving the actual broadcast signal provides a reference for checking transmission output rather than relying solely on the original source.

In automatic backup workflows, an off-air signal can be used as an alternative source when the primary signal becomes unavailable.

For FM rebroadcasting, access to the transmitted signal can also be integrated into existing distribution workflows.

These use cases demonstrate how additional RF input options can help broadcasters adapt their systems to different operational requirements.

Less Equipment, More Flexibility

Integrating RF reception into existing broadcast hardware offers a practical advantage: fewer external devices and less additional cabling.

Instead of adding separate receivers to an existing setup, broadcasters can bring the required signal directly into their workflow through an integrated tuner option.

This can simplify system integration, reduce hardware requirements and provide greater flexibility for future applications.

With the new tuner options, 2wcom is expanding the possibilities for broadcast monitoring and distribution, making it easier to work with the signals that matter most.

From Flensburg to Hamburg: lydlink live at LEaT con

At this year’s LEaT con, we presented lydlink, our new Remote Production Bridge, for the first time. And instead of just showing the technology at our booth, we wanted visitors to experience what remote production with lydlink actually feels like.

So we connected our booth in Hamburg with our headquarters in Flensburg and brought a live production straight to the exhibition floor.

Live in Flensburg, mixed in Hamburg

For our live sessions during LEaT con, our canteen in Flensburg turned into a small live venue.

While the musicians performed in Flensburg, their audio was transmitted via lydlink to our booth in Hamburg. There, Bjarke and visitors could take over the mix themselves and work with a performance happening live in another city.

The setup showed the idea behind lydlink in practice: the people performing and the people handling the production no longer need to be in the same place.

And rather than only explaining the workflow, we could hand over the controls and let visitors experience it themselves.

From Wacken to LEaT con

LEaT con was not the first time we put lydlink to the test.

Earlier this year, we tested the system at Wacken Open Air. The task was to create the broadcast mix for two stages, but instead of doing so from a hot and noisy production container behind the stage, the mix happened remotely from a studio in Flensburg.

All of this happened over a regular internet connection while around 80,000 Metalheads were celebrating at the festival.

After this first real-world test, LEaT con gave us the opportunity to take the next step and officially present lydlink while letting visitors try the workflow for themselves.

So, what is lydlink?

lydlink is our Remote Production Bridge, designed to connect production locations over regular internet infrastructure.

The basic idea is simple: plug it in, establish the connection and focus on the production.

lydlink automatically calibrates itself and determines parameters such as latency, audio quality and codec. The connection can run over regular internet as well as 5G or Starlink, making the system flexible for different locations and production environments.

At the same time, low-latency and lossless audio transmission provides the foundation for professional remote audio workflows.

A 3rd-party Ethernet tunnel also makes it possible to integrate existing infrastructure into the connection.

The result is a workflow where the technology behind the connection stays in the background while the production itself remains the focus.

Three ways to connect

At LEaT con, we presented three products within the lydlink setup:

Tap Briq
A compact solution for remote offices or smaller venues.

lydlink lydBridge
Designed for professional productions.

lydlink Client
A software-based option that connects directly from a PC, Mac or iOS device.

Together, the three options make it possible to build a remote production setup around different locations and requirements.

Putting remote production into practice

LEaT con gave us the opportunity to do more than simply present a new product.

With musicians performing live in Flensburg and the mix happening at our booth in Hamburg, visitors could experience the concept behind lydlink as part of an actual live setup.

Introducing SRT Dual Streaming

SRT is designed to make live video transmission over unpredictable networks more reliable. It can compensate for packet loss, network fluctuations and other issues that commonly occur when transmitting video over the public internet.

But what happens when the connection itself goes down?

This is where SRT Dual Streaming comes in.

Also known as SRT Bonding, the technology uses two network connections to add another layer of redundancy to an SRT transmission. At 2wcom, we call it SRT Dual Streaming because it follows the same principle already used for RTP Dual Streaming across our solutions.

When Packet Recovery Is Not Enough

One of SRT’s key mechanisms for reliable transmission is packet recovery. If a packet does not reach the receiver, the missing packet can be detected and requested again.

This works well for packet loss. But there is one limitation: if the entire network connection is interrupted, there is no path left to retransmit the missing data.

For broadcast applications, even a short interruption can be a problem.

With RTP, this can already be addressed through Dual Streaming, using two independent paths to protect a stream against the failure of one connection.

With SRT Dual Streaming, this additional level of redundancy is now also available for SRT streams on 2wcom devices.

Two Connections. One Reliable Stream.

SRT Dual Streaming uses a second network connection as an additional transmission path.

If the primary connection fails, transmission can continue via the second path without interrupting the stream. Instead of relying on a single network connection, the SRT stream can therefore remain available even when one path goes down.

This adds another layer of protection to SRT. While SRT itself handles problems such as individual lost packets, SRT Dual Streaming protects the transmission against the loss of an entire connection.

Choose How You Use the Second Connection

Depending on the application, the second connection can be used in two different ways.

With Redundancy Mode active, the same stream is transmitted continuously over both connections. Both paths are available at the same time, providing maximum redundancy if one of them fails.

With Redundancy Mode inactive, the second connection acts as a backup. The stream is transmitted via the primary connection during normal operation, while the second path takes over if the first connection fails.

This reduces the resources required on the second connection while still providing failover when it is needed.

SRT Dual Streaming Across 2wcom Devices

SRT Dual Streaming is now available for all 2wcom devices supporting SRT.

There is no separate feature or additional license required. If SRT is enabled on the device, SRT Dual Streaming is included by default.

For existing SRT workflows, this means more resilience without introducing another transport protocol or changing the fundamental workflow.

One stream. Two paths. And one less single point of failure.

From National to Local: Distributed ASA Alerting for DAB Networks

When an emergency alert is broadcast, it needs to reach people reliably and across different parts of the network. But distributing alert information to every individual multiplex can require additional infrastructure and dedicated connections.

The 2wcom DAB Monitoring Receiver takes a different approach. By continuously monitoring an ASA-enabled DAB ensemble over the air, it can independently verify what is actually being transmitted while also detecting active alerts.

These alerts can then be used to automatically trigger OE Alert signalling in connected local or regional DAB multiplexes. This creates a distributed alerting approach where alert information can propagate from national to local networks using the broadcast signal itself as the source.

Monitor the broadcast

Continuously monitor an ASA-enabled DAB ensemble over the air.

Verify reception, ASA signalling and alerts, providing an independent check of what is actually being transmitted.

Become part of a distributed alert network

An ASA-enabled DAB ensemble can itself become the source for alert information.

The 2wcom Monitoring Receiver detects an alert and automatically triggers OE Alert signalling in a connected local or regional multiplex.

Distributed ASA Alerting: How It Works

1. National DAB ensemble broadcasts an alert

The alert is transmitted as FIG 0/15, including the relevant geographic Location Codes.

2. 2wcom Monitoring Receiver detects the alert

Installed at a local or regional headend, the receiver continuously monitors the national ensemble over RF.

3. Receiver informs the local multiplexer

The relevant alert parameters are transferred via JSON to the connected local or regional DAB multiplexer.

4. Local multiplex broadcasts an OE Alert

The local multiplex generates a FIG 0/15 Other Ensemble Alert, directing compatible receivers to the national ensemble carrying the actual warning.

The Result

Alert information can propagate from national to local DAB networks without requiring a central alert-distribution connection to every individual multiplex.

By using the broadcast signal itself as a source for alert information, the 2wcom DAB Monitoring Receiver adds another layer to ASA-enabled DAB networks: independent monitoring combined with automated alert propagation across different parts of the network.

A summer project: Connecting Wacken and Flensburg

Festival season seems like a good time for new ideas.

This summer, Bjarke’s long-standing collaboration with the teams at JAM Studio Flair&Sound and Sehquenz led to a rather interesting project between Wacken and Flensburg.

The idea was to connect the production at the festival with Preben Paulsen’s studio, allowing him to handle his part of the Wacken production remotely from his familiar working environment.

While Bjarke and the team were working on site at Wacken, Preben was connected from his studio in Flensburg.

And this was not just one band or one short test. During his shifts, Preben worked on numerous performances across the neighbouring W:E:T Stage and Headbangers Stage, including bands taking part in the Wacken Metal Battle.

With one act following another, every band bringing its own sound and setup, and very little time between them, this was a demanding production environment. From Flensburg, Preben handled the soundchecks and mixed and mastered the audio while following what was happening on both stages.

Once his Wacken shift was finished, he could simply leave the studio, go home and sleep in his own bed. During a busy festival production, that is not a small benefit.

For now, it has simply been a fun summer project with good people, loud music and an idea worth exploring.

Could it lead to something bigger, or even something small?

SRT Sicherheitsupdates

Die letzten bekannten kritischen Sicherheitslücken in der verwendeten SRT-Bibliothek (Secure Reliable Transport) wurden in unseren Produkten so schnell wie möglich behoben.

Die entsprechenden Sicherheitskorrekturen wurden für unterstützten Geräte zurückportiert und stehen ab den folgenden Firmware-Versionen zur Verfügung:

Introducing Video Output for up2talk

With the new Video Output feature, up2talk now supports live video alongside audio.

Using a webcam or smartphone camera, you can add your own video feed to a broadcast while streaming content such as a football match, a live TV talk show, and much more. This helps create a more engaging experience and lets viewers connect with the people behind the commentary.

Video is provided in H.264 format with AAC audio, making it easy to integrate into existing streaming workflows.

A simple addition, but one that opens up new possibilities for live productions.

A New Way to Keep HD Radio® and FM in Sync

2wcom introduces a new transport solution that combines HD Radio® E2X and analog or digital MPX into one synchronized stream. The result is precise HD/FM timing, simplified distribution, and improved reliability across IP networks.

In hybrid radio, timing matters.

To keep HD Radio® and FM properly aligned, both parts of the signal chain need to stay in sync throughout transport and distribution. As broadcast infrastructures continue to move toward IP-based workflows, that challenge becomes more important and more complex.

2wcom’s new solution addresses this by combining the HD Radio® E2X signal and an analog or digital MPX signal into one synchronized transport stream. Instead of managing separate paths for HD and FM, broadcasters can transport both together in lockstep.

This brings clear practical advantages. It helps maintain precise HD/FM timing, simplifies hybrid radio distribution, and improves reliability across IP networks. At the same time, the solution is designed to fit into existing infrastructures, with compatibility for Gen3 environments and support for analog or digital MPX workflows.

The new transport solution also supports flexible MPX transport options. Broadcasters can work with uncompressed MPX in the range of 1.5 to 6.1 Mbit/s or use compressed MPX at 320 kbit/s with aptMPX or µMPX, depending on network requirements. High-precision timing via GPS / 1PPS ensures alignment between HD and FM, while the stated FM accuracy is suitable for SFN operation.

For modern IP-based distribution, resilience is another key benefit. According to the product text, E2X can be protected with mechanisms such as SRT, Dual Flow redundancy, and other resilient transport technologies, supporting reliable delivery across real-world networks.

By transporting HD Radio® E2X and MPX together in one synchronized stream, 2wcom offers broadcasters a robust and future-ready approach to hybrid radio distribution: reliable, compatible, and synchronized.
