Hardware
The box is a standard 19" by 1 R/U. At its heart is a powerful microcomputer for controlling the hardware functions and driving the interfaces. Four RS 232C interfaces are available. The screen can display all programmable settings and the jog wheel can be used to change them so you can set up the S02 without taking a laptop with you.
The software is stored in flash memory so that firmware updates can be made easily. Functions such as nonvolatile data storage, watchdog, real-time clock, remote-control inputs, and signaling relays are standard in the S02.
The S02 offers two analog and one digital (AES/EBU) XLR inputs for audio. Two SCA inputs allow the broadcaster to switch between different RDS sources. For maximum flexibility the S02 has two multiplex (composite + RDS), one AUX (for testing), one pilot, and one M ((L+R)/2) output.
Because the multiplex signal is generated by digital synthesis using a powerful 32bit floating point digital signal processor (DSP), noise and distortion are reduced. The audio signals are sampled by 24bit A/D- and D/A-converters, and there is no need to recalibrate the electronics due to temperature drift.
TCP/IP Interface
The S02 is equipped with a TCP/IP interface and SNMP. The generator can then be configured and controlled via the Internet. The big advantage of the TCP/IP interface is to get fast , easy remote access to the equipment from anywhere.
Automation Software
The included S02Config software connects via serial cable or TCP/IP and all necessary parameters can be set with an user-friendly graphical interface. The software is designed to easily handle generators at multiple locations. With an upgrade the monitoring of the multiplex power and peak deviation is possible and can be displayed over time.
