T-Systems relies on 2wcom A20
December 2006 / Mainz, Germany. Sine April 2004 T-Systems Traffic has been transmitting premium traffic information data via the RDS-TMC traffic channel. The TMCpro Service airs via the 350 FM frequencies of private radio stations. TMCpro covers more than 90 percent of Germany, including the Autobahn motorway network.
T-Systems Media&Broadcast operates the transmission network and, in order to assure control of the total network, we equipped every FM transmitter with a 2wcom A20 RDS monitor decoder.
Effective coordination
The A20 enables real-time control of RDS data, injection level, signal strength and audio quality, allowing us to prove and make certain that additional RDS services reach the listener. The 2wcom solution improves the quality control management of radio stations, immediately forwarding information about any transmission problem to the maintenance pool via e-mail, SNMP or relay switching. The effective coordination on maintenance personal and the fast reaction are additional benefits.
It is possible for the broadcaster to monitor his or her own station, to scan eight difference frequencies and MP3 live streams remotely from anywhere via TCP/IP, as well as to keep informed about neighborhood FM stations as well. For T-Systems, in the event of a breakdown or disruption, the A20 froward the fault to our 24/7 maintenance control center, which carries out repairs right away.
The integration of the A20 RDS monitor decoder with our transmission network keeps the service provider for the TMCpro network permanently informed about the status of the network. On the strength of our experiences at T-Systems Media&Broascast, the application and integration of the A20 RDS monitor decoder is very positive. The equipment is failsafe and offers very flexible operation in combination with the corresponding software.
