SADIBA (Southern African Digital Broadcasting Association) prides itself as the leading knowledge hub on digital broadcasting that significantly influences the successful introduction of digital technologies enhancing the quality of life of the citizens of the Southern African Development Community (SADC).
What is SADIBA?
SADIBA (the Southern African Digital Broadcasting Association) is a voluntary industry forum dedicated to promoting the co-ordinated market driven introduction of digital broadcasting technologies in the Southern African region.
Current members include broadcasters, signal distributors, the regulator, consumer equipment manufacturers and distributors, the standards organisation and the marketing fraternity.
What does SADIBA wish to achieve?
Collaboration and co-operation mark the new era of digital broadcasting. Never before have opposing stakeholders and competitors joined hands in defining specifications, introducing regulatory and frequency management policies and launching products and services into the market.
Although SADIBA as a voluntary association has no power to determine outcomes it aims to contribute to regulatory and other processes and serve as a source of reliable and objective information on digital broadcasting for the regulator and the industry.
What has SADIBA achieved to date?
SADIBA has several achievements and successes to list. These include:
- Making both written and verbal submission to ICASA (formerly the IBA’s) discussion paper on satellite broadcasting
- Nominating and recommending to ICASA (formerly the IBA), the broadcasters to be included as participants on the Digital Radio (DAB) Pilot transmissions over Johannesburg
- Arranging and presenting Industry Workshops on Digital Broadcasting and data-casting
- Demonstrating digital broadcasting technologies at local exhibits and conferences
- Delivering papers at local, regional and international conferences
- Facilitating contact between international receiver manufacturers and the local industry.

The RDS Forum is a worldwide association of professional users of RDS technology. The members are representatives of broadcasters, manufacturers of receivers and professional equipment, transmission operators, data service providers, professional associations and regulating authorities.
